Authentic Horsemanship Clinics at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch

At The Hideout, we practice “Authentic Horsemanship” — relationship-based horsemanship using pressure and release to encourage horses to respond. This methodology emphasises trust, consistent leadership and kindness throughout every interaction.

Our Horsemanship Philosophy

We believe in respect, low-stress, empathy, open-mindedness and professionalism in everything we do with horses. Our goal is to create “a fun, safe, open-minded and respectful equestrian experience” while maximising the potential in the relationship between each horse and rider.

Weekly Horsemanship Sessions

  • Riding lessons and foundational horsemanship instruction offered during each guest week
  • Wednesday morning demonstrations led by co-owner Marijn (Level 4 Parelli Certification)
  • Wrangler feedback during rides throughout the week
  • Both owners participate in guided rides with guests

Intensive Off-Season Clinics

The Hideout offers intensive horsemanship clinics during winter and spring months — limited to just 8 participants to maximise individual attention. These clinics are highly popular and typically book out early.

About Marijn De Cabooter

Co-owner Marijn transitioned from a self-described “city girl, actually afraid of horses” into a respected Level 4 Parelli horsewoman. She leads The Hideout’s horsemanship culture and rides alongside guests throughout the season.
