Riding & Horsemanship at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch
The Hideout is foremost a riding destination. This is not your typical nose-to-tail dude ranch — this is real Western riding and Authentic Horsemanship across some of Wyoming’s most breathtaking and diverse landscapes.
The Riding Experience
Each day, guests ride into Wyoming’s Big Horn Basin and Bighorn Mountains, exploring vast, untamed landscapes that change with the seasons. From high desert valleys and winding canyons to pine-scented alpine meadows and mountain lakes — no two rides are ever the same.
- Access to approximately 650,000 acres of riding
- Elevations from 4,200 feet to over 10,000 feet
- Small groups — maximum 25 guests, personalized attention
- No nose-to-tail riding — real horsemanship on open terrain
- Expert wrangler guidance for all skill levels
Authentic Horsemanship
At The Hideout, we practice “Authentic Horsemanship” — a trust-based approach that prioritizes communication, feel and partnership between horse and rider. Rather than simply directing horses from the saddle, you’ll learn to work with your horse, developing a genuine connection that transforms your riding.
Co-owner Marijn De Cabooter, a Level 4 Parelli horsewoman, leads our horsemanship culture alongside our experienced wrangling team.
Our 90+ Horse Herd
Our exceptional herd includes Quarter Horses, Paints and a remarkable one-third who are rescued and retrained American Mustangs. Every horse is carefully matched to each guest’s skill level and goals. Guests typically ride more than one horse during their stay.
